Support to the communities

D’Ieteren aims to play its part in improving the quality of life of its communities in both its activities:
- by implementing a sponsorship policy;
- by encouraging its employees to engage personally with communities, especially through corporate volunteering.
In 2010 D’Ieteren Auto organised the first “Give & Gain” volunteering days. Nearly 300 employees across all levels devoted an entire working day to helping charitable or environmental projects. This initiative provided the opportunity for D’Ieteren Auto personnel to engage personally with the company’s corporate social responsibility. In addition to these “Give & Gain” days, D’Ieteren Auto continued to provide financial and practical support (loans of vehicles) to a range of social projects and charitable organisations.
Belron supports communities across the globe, both as individual businesses and as a global team. At a global level, 900 Belron employees from 16 countries took part in the London Triathlon to raise money to support disadvantaged communities in South Africa. This was the 9th year that Belron has taken part in the London triathlon and was the largest corporate team entry into the largest triathlon in the world. In 2011 Belron will continue to drive ownership for Giving Back in every business unit. Working in conjunction with the European Year of Volunteering 2011, Belron will continue to encourage volunteering and skills sharing opportunities throughout the organisation.
