Environment

The D’Ieteren Group’s two activities have for several years taken measures to reduce their direct and indirect environmental impacts, aimed primarily at reducing CO2 and waste. To achieve this objective, the approach taken by the three activities encompasses:
- their range of product and services;
- their corporate ecological footprint.
D’Ieteren Auto is Belgian distributor for the Volkswagen group, which offers increasingly fuel efficient and lower CO2 vehicles. Besides its marketing activity, D’Ieteren Auto develops a range of different solutions to help its customers to reduce their own footprint, such as ecodriving courses, alternative mobility solutions, etc. The company has also set up an effective energy management policy across all its sites and buildings, centred on the monitoring of energy consumption, the use of alternative energy sources, and rational energy use.
Belron has identified two key objectives for minimising its impact on the environment:
- reducing its glass waste by promoting its “repair first” approach, and by increasing the recycling rate in the countries where it operates;
- significantly reducing the CO2 emissions produced by its buildings and vehicle fleets; a range of initiatives are being investigated, for example comparing CO2 emissions of a mobile service and a branch-based service.
Belron is monitoring its environmental progress using its own highly effective reporting system, which has been deployed in its branches since 2010.
